Area teams finished with a 1-2 record on the weekend after Wake Forest-Rolesville’s narrow loss and Wakefield’s defensive win.
All three area high schools, including Franklinton, will play at home tomorrow (Friday) night. WF-R and Wakefield begin at 7 p.m., Franklinton at 7:30 p.m.
Other high school athletic teams, including boys’ soccer, girls’ tennis, cross country and volleyball also got their seasons underway this week.
To mark the opening of the fall sports season, The Wake Weekly has published the 2006 Guide to Falls Sports. The special 28-page tab is inserted in this week’s edition.
The handy guide is filled with facts and figures about all the fall sports’ squads at
WF-R, Wakefield and Franklinton high schools.
Local sports’ fans will get a peek inside the teams’ preparations for the new season, and Sports Editor Tim Candon makes some fearless predictions about what spectators will see when they attend a game, match or race.
We hope you’ll keep the section long after you’ve recycled this week’s newspaper to help you follow your favorite team from the kickoff to the final whistle.
