WAKE FOREST — A statewide event, the North Carolina 7-on-7 State Championship takes place July 20 at Wake Forest High, Wake Forest Middle and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, with the final championship game held at Trentini Stadium at Wake Forest High.
Teams from across the state will participate, including local students from Wake Forest and Heritage High schools.
Tournaments, including lineman’s challenge, punting, field goal kicking and long snapping will be held, as well as a punt, pass and kick contest for children ages 6 to 15.
7-on-7 football is an off-season workout program that most North Carolina schools use to improve the skills of quarterbacks, receivers, secondary players and linebackers. The game emphasizes passing using a 45-yard field and a one-hand touch for a tackle.
