Alexander “Dick” Massey, 86, of Wake Forest died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Hillside Nursing Center. He was born Feb. 20, 1927 in Wake County, the son of the late Minnie Lowery Massey and Frank Kearney Massey.
After serving in the Army during World War II, he graduated from Wake Forest High School in 1948. Massey was a drivers license examiner for more than 31 years. He was a faithful member of Glen Royal Baptist Church and Enfield Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 17 at Glen Royal Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Faile officiating.
Massey is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Lewis Massey; a daughter, Elizabeth Massey Tippette and her husband, Burt, of Wake Forest; a grandchild; a son, Frank Sterling Massey and his wife, Sandy, of Winterville; sisters, Shirley Nance of Wake Forest, Edith Denson of Charlotte and Rose Bailey of Greensboro; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Louise Smith, Lillie Massey, Nellie Marshall, Ruby Hicks, Ethel Hunter, Pearl Horton and Lacy Wall; and brothers, Lonnie Massey, Bruce Massey, Frank Massey Jr., Robert Massey and Andrew Massey.
