Allie Mae Catlette Daniel, 93, of Rolesville, died peacefully in her sleep in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., Jan. 12, 2014.
Mrs. Daniel was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Franklin County, the daughter of William Howard Catlette and Allie Woodlief Catlette. She grew up in Franklin County at Green Hill Farm before moving to the Rolesville area. Mrs. Daniel graduated from Rolesville High School and Mrs. Heath’s Secretarial College and worked for the U.C.C. and Westinghouse in Raleigh before retiring in 1981.
She married Spurgeon Charles Daniel Jan. 23, 1940, and celebrated 55 years of marriage up to his death in 1995. They were a well-known couple in Rolesville with their giving and loving nature and community service with Meals on Wheels, the Rolesville Fire Department and the Lions Club.
She is predeceased by her parents and seven siblings. Surviving are her daughter Phyllis (wife of John Holden Parrish) of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., and her son William Larry Daniel (husband of Judy Daniel); and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service was held Jan. 20 at Montlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. J. Marshall Neathery officiating. Pallbearers were Al Privette, Rodney Privette, Chris Mobley, Peter Dugan, Grady Poole, and Charles Daniel.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Rolesville Baptist Church or to the Rolesville Fire Department.
