Jazmin Alston, a 2017 University of North Carolina graduate and Alston-Pleasants Scholar, has been awarded an Alston-Pleasants Post-Graduate Scholars Fund scholarship for graduate studies in the East Carolina University Master of Arts and Certificate of Advanced Study in School Psychology Program.
The three-year combined MA, CAS School Psychology Program prepares highly qualified entry-level school psychologists to work with children, families and other professionals to promote healthy student development and enhanced teacher effectiveness in influential social and cultural environments.
Alston, a resident of Hollister, was valedictorian of her graduating class at Northwest Halifax High School. Active in sports as well as excelling in academics, she is also an alumna of the North Carolina Governor’s School.
The late Missouri Alston Pleasants established the Alston-Pleasants undergraduate scholarships in 1958 to provide added recognition and encouragement for selected University of North Carolina students from Franklin, Halifax and Warren Counties.
