Ann Marie Turner, of Franklinton, died peacefully Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh. Ann was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Montgomery, Ala., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie (Anna Dukes) Johnson.
Ann attended the Washington Business Institute in New York, N.Y. She retired from a business career in 1996 and moved to Franklinton. She was then employed as a customer service representative in the cashier’s office at N.C. State University from 2000 to 2011. Ann was a member of the Franklinton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Anna Johnson; her two sons, Charles and William Bateman; her god-daughter Renee Talmadge; three brothers, Charlie, Eddie and Carnell; and two sisters, Hazel Nell and Jean.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, William Turner, Franklinton; one son, Richard (Ernestine) Bateman, New York, N.Y. ; one sister, Laura (Bennie) Smith, Montgomery, Ala.; one brother William (Mary) Johnson, Columbus, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Melba Bateman, Montgomery, Ala.; two grandsons, Charles and William Bateman; one granddaughter, Arnett (Antoine) Davis; one god-daughter, Marsha (Terry) David; six great-grand children, Troi, Christina, Charles and William Bateman, Kiara Richardson and Kyla Davis; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Turner and Carolyn (Joyce) Turner; her best friend of 61 years, Roxanna Talmadge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, at 3 p.m. at the Gethsemane Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2525 Sanderford Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27610. The Rev. Dr. Larry E. Johnson and Pastor Herbert Anderson will officiate.
