WAKE FOREST — The United Way of Franklin County (UWFC) hosts its annual cook-off contest Oct. 12, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Louisburg Walmart, in the parking lot. Each plate is $8, and pork barbecue will be available for purchase, $10 per pound.
The sixth annual Cow Chip, hosed by UWFC, will also be held at noon, Oct. 12 as a part of the Siren 3 Cook-Off. The first prize winner will take home $1,000, second $250, and third a Sears Gas Grill.
Tickets are $5 each, available at the Farm Bureau, any United Way Franklin County board member, or call 919-496-0937 and ask for Maribeth Allen or Nicki Perry. All proceeds go to fund Franklin County human services and teachers’ grants.
Teams competing in the Siren 3 cookoff are White Level Fire Department, Lake Royal CERT Team, Bunn Rescue and EMS Squad, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Bunn Volunteer Fire Department, Little Pig’s Lake Royale Police, Epsom Volunteer Fire Department and the Home Team hosted by Jeremy Neal.
