Rogers Road still closed

Drivers who rely on Rogers Road to get from Wake Forest to Rolesville will have to find alternate routes a bit longer.
The road, which was to close for only a week early this month, should reopen before the new year if the weather cooperates, said Stratford Developers' engineer Mike Crowley. Stratford Developers is overseeing the construction of a new, realigned portion of Rogers Road which will line up with Redford Place Drive. When Rogers Road was first closed, Crowley and Stratford Developers estimated the work would take just a week, but rain has slowed down the process. "What people don't understand is if it rains today and it's sunny tomorrow, it takes time for the site to dry out," Crowley said. The road has to be built to state Department of Transportation specifications, and the standards cannot be reduced to meet a certain time frame, he explained. After the new section of Rogers Road is opened, the old portion of the road up to Sir William Lane will be reopened as well, Crowley said.
