Artists open studios for September tour
The annual Wake Forest Area Artists’ Studio Tour invites the public into the homes and working studios of professional artists the weekends of Sept. 13-14 and Sept. 20-21.
All studios are within an approximate seven-mile radius of downtown Wake Forest and will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays.
An open house and tour preview party will be held Friday, Sept. 12, from 5-9 p.m., at Sunflower Studio and Gallery, 214 E. Jones Ave., Wake Forest.

Wake Forest welcomes Good Neighbor Day on Sept. 21
The Wake Forest Human Relations Council sponsors the third annual Good Neighbor Day on Sunday, Sept. 21, from 1-5 p.m. at Wake Forest’s Holding Park, 133 W. Owen Ave. Good Neighbor Day assembles people from all walks of life for a day of food, games, dancing, music, a disc jockey, storytelling, prizes and activities for children and adults. Youngsville Fall Festival set for Sept. 27
The annual Youngsville Fall Festival is Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Youngsville National Guard Armory. The festival will include a craft show, car show, baking contest, children's activities and food. The children's area will include inflatables and games.Spaces are available for the craft show for $25 inside or $15 outside, and food vendor spaces are available for $75. The car show will have goodie bags and dash plaques for the first 100 entries, and trophies for the top 50 places, as well as best of show trophies. Farmers' market in bloom Saturdays
The Wake Forest Farmers' Market is open from 8 a.m. until noon in the gazebo parking lot downtown. The market runs through Nov. 22. For more information, contact Terry Wilkinson at 556-1579.
Art After Hours held downtown
On the second Friday night of each month, the streets of downtown Wake Forest come alive for Art After Hours with food, winetastings, horse-drawn carriage rides, art exhibits and music as businesses stay open until 9 p.m.
Live music staged each Friday
Festival Friday, bringing live entertainment to downtown Wake Forest, begins each week with open mic at 6 p.m. Performances are held each Friday through Oct. 17 at Festival Park on South White Street in Wake Forest. In case of rain, the festivities move indoors. Lounge chairs and blankets are encouraged. Proceeds benefit the Graham Johnson Cultural Arts Endowment.
