This week I want to show some love for Xbox 360 fans by finding a game that I feel has been overlooked in the past couple of years. This hidden gem is called Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, which is an Xbox 360 exclusive title.
Nuts & Bolts is the third installment in the Banjo-Kazooie series. You continue the adventure of two heroes, Banjo and Kazooie, living in the Spiral mountains.
Previously, the duo has spent their time stopping the evil plans of Gruntilda — a witch looking to steal the beauty of Banjo’s sister, Tooty. Unfortunately, Gruntilda returns eight years later after the second game to invoke revenge on our tag team protagonists.
The first thing you will notice about this game is the colorful characters. The entire series revolves around a honey bear named Banjo and man-size bird, Kazooie. They exist in a fictional world where animals live like human beings.
The latest installment of Banjo-Kazooie is a visual beauty to look at also. With the first two releases on the Nintendo 64 console, which is two generations old, graphically speaking, there is a major difference in detail of presentation.
Everything in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts looks like you are watching a Dreamworks movie because players will interact in vibrant sceneries and lush environments the entire time of gameplay.
Even though you play in a beautiful world, you must stop Gruntilda and her henchmen from messing it up. Banjo and Kazooie have a special set of abilities that they have acquired in the past but through a series of events, the two end up losing most of their skills.
Thus, players will have to rely on their imagination and Banjo’s building talents, combined with Kazooie’s big wings, in order to save the day. You will spend most of your time putting together vehicles to maneuver through worlds, which is more fun that it sounds.
With more than 1,600 different components available like engines, wheels, wings, propellers and weapons, you may find yourself replaying levels just to beat it a different way.
As a whole, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is great for anyone because of the balance of puzzle-solving, vehicle creation, fun dialogue and easy controls. The game is family-friendly and has a goofy nature appealing to anyone with a sense of humor.
The only limit is that the main game is single player. They do offer a multiplayer mode for competing in challenges, but players will grow bored very quickly.
The best part about getting this game is that it was originally released in 2008, so it will be easy to find in your local used game stores.
As long as you have an Xbox 360, you can have a lot of fun for a small price.
