Free hot dogs, games, prizes at building safety kick-off event Saturday
May is Building Safety Month and the town of Wake Forest Inspections Department is launching the observance with a Building Safety Month Kick-Off Event Saturday, April 30. The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town & Country Hardware, 910 Gateway Commons Circle.
The kick-off event will include free hot dogs (while they last), games, prizes, and the Wake Forest Fire Department’s Fire Safety House. The Fire Safety House is used to teach children how to safely evacuate their home in the event of fire.
Area residents are invited to come out and learn about the services the department offers, including Express Residential Plan Review, and talk one-on-one with town inspectors about building safety, codes, and inspections as they pertain to common residential projects, such as decks, kitchen and bath remodels, and screened porches.
Dentist office opens
Nina Thomas, a local dentist, has opened Longleaf Dentistry, a new dental office in Wake Forest, embracing new technology from soothing heated towels to a 3-D printer, "to elevate the patient’s experience," Thomas said.
"Fear is one of the greatest barriers to patients accessing dental care, and I want [residents] to know that dentistry has come a long way," she said.
"We have incorporated technology into treatment: digital x-rays that have such low radiation that the assistant does not have to leave the room to take the image, a comfortable cleaning that uses gentle vibration rather than the traditional metal tools and our newest feature, one of the most advanced 3-D printers available. This allows us to build beautiful and natural-looking crowns and veneers in a single visit."
Longleaf Dentistry is located at 1440 Brogden Woods Drive, Suite 101 in Wake Forest, and can be reached at 919-888-4676.
