Candace Mary Maicher, 68, of Raleigh, formerly of Highland, Ind., passed away, Friday June 27, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born in Lake County, Ind. to the late Francis B. and Mary O. (Turk) Kubeck.
Mrs. Maicher was a high school English and literature teacher who inspired students for decades in her classroom. She loved to read, garden and travel, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Maicher is survived by her husband of 44 years, Donald J. Maicher; children, Kellen R. Maicher and wife, Amy, of Columbus, Ohio; Kara M. Louise and husband, Matt, of Rolesville; and Donald F. Maicher and wife, Sara, of Indianapolis, Ind.; siblings, Sandra Ferry and husband, Ed, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Andrew Kubeck and wife, Annette, of Wheeling, Ill.; Milan Kubeck and wife, Lynn, of Valley Springs, Calif.; and Mary Garrett and husband, Duane, of Pueblo, Colo.; grandchildren, Teegan Louise, Caden Louise, Claudia Jean Louise, Zoey Maiche, and Morgan Maicher; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers John, Francis and Steven Kubeck.
A celebration of Mrs. Maicher’s life will be held at 1 p.m. today (Thursday), July 3, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home.
