BUNN — In 1914, the Smith-Lever Act established the cooperative extension service, a state-by-state national network of educators who extend university-based research and knowledge to the public.
N.C. State University and A&T State University’s Cooperative Extension will celebrate the anniversary with a free centennial event Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Montclair Complex on N.C. 98 East, in Bunn.
Antique and new farm equipment will be on display, and demonstrations of horse-drawn equipment and an old time tobacco auction are on the schedule. Live music and educational booths round out the day, which will showcase the heritage of Franklin County and the impact of the cooperative extension on its people and economy over the past 100 years.
The event will take place rain or shine. For more information, see franklin.ces.ncsu.edu.
