Clay Jacob “Butch” Maulden, Jr., 70, of Wake Forest, died Saturday, March 8, 2014. He was born in Durham County and was the son of the late Pattie Elizabeth McBroom Maulden and Clay Jacob Maulden Sr.
Butch was a graduate of Durham High School and of Lees-McRae College. He also studied at the University of Minnesota and was retired from Kiddie Aerospace as an aerospace engineer after 30 years of service. Butch was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was an avid Duke fan. He loved genealogy and recently finished working on his family history.
A celebration of Butch’s life was held March 11, 2014 at E. Carroll Joyner Park in Wake Forest.
Butch is survived by his wife of 29 years, Gale Ball Maulden; children, Patrick Maulden and wife, Aimee, of Ohio, Allison Maulden, of Alabama, Jamie Maulden, of Durham, and C. Jacob Maulden III, of Wake Forest; sisters, Gretchen Williford and husband, Charles, of Burlington, Patsy Maulden McKinney and husband, Mike, of Burlington, and Jo Anne Reed and husband, Randy, of Timberlake; three grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
