Clyde Brooks Crowder, 82, of Knightdale, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 with his family by his side. He retired after driving 18-wheelers for 44 years for Rogers Oil, AG Boone and Cary Oil. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a wonderful husband, father and papa. He loved driving his trucks, fishing and taking his family camping. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. W. C. and Bessie Crowder.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Siefert officiating. Burial was Woodland Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Crowder is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lillian A. Crowder; daughters, Linda Crowder of Raleigh and Brenda Wester and husband, Carl, of Knightdale; son, Clyde Crowder and wife, Susan, of Zebulon; three grandsons, Jonathon Crowder, Matthew Crowder, and Miles Wester; and two brothers, Steve Crowder and Jesse Crowder.

The family would like to express special thanks to those that showed compassionate care at Wellington Nursing and Rehab Center and to Heartland Hospice, especially Pat, Eric and Sandy.
Pallbearers were Jonathon Crowder, Matthew Crowder, Jimmy Pleasants, Doug Carter, Miles Wester, Shelton Wester and Tony Allen.
