WAKE FOREST — Local churches and community organizations are working together to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., to be held Thursday, Jan. 19.
The public is invited to begin the celebration at 6 p.m. with a light meal, followed by the program at 7 p.m. at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church, 237 Friendship Chapel Road.
Dr. Earl C. Johnson, founder of The Success Dream Center, LLC is the featured speaker for evening. The celebration’s theme centers on one of Dr. King’s messages, “The time is always right to do what is right.”
The Martin Luther King Committee is offering creative performance, writing and art competitions for students in Wake Forest and Rolesville-area schools. The competition winners will be recognized during the program.
Local groups contributing to the celebration include the Wake Forest Human Relations Council, Friendship Chapel Baptist Church, Heritage Baptist Church, Wake Forest Baptist Church and Wakefield Family Church.
Other supporters include Faith Tabernacle United Holy Church, Corinth UCC, New Bethel Rolesville, Olive Branch Baptist Church, Wake Forest Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club of Wake Forest.
