Community support made library book sale
To the editor:
I’m not from the Wake Forest area originally. I wasn’t all that happy about having to leave my home town. But now I couldn’t be happier to be where I am.
What a wonderful community. So many interesting and involved people. So many active civic organizations. And so much community support for those organizations and their worthy causes.
I present as evidence the success of the recent used book sale put on by the Friends of the Wake Forest Library.
What went into this success? Well, I’m not going to kid you, there was a fair bit of planning and hard work by some dedicated members of the Friends.
But what really made it happen was the support from the community. Books had to be donated — and they were. Books had to be purchased — and they were.
And let’s not forget places to collect books, a place to have the sale and publicity to get the word out.
Thank you again to The Southeast Baptist Theological Seminary for donating the space for the sale and all of your assistance.
And thank you to The Wake Forest Weekly, the Town of Wake Forest and others for helping us get the word out.
Thank you to all the businesses in and around Wake Forest that hosted book collection bins or posted signs about the book sale. Thank you to all who donated books and/or purchased books.
Thank you to all who volunteered their time and energy to collect, sort, set up and sell thousands of books.
Yes, thank you to everyone who gave to the book sale in so many ways I can’t name them all — in support of the Friends, in support of the library, in support of our community.
