On the morning of June 24, 2014, Dan Cash, of Wake Forest, passed away peacefully at his home after a three-year battle with lung cancer, with his beloved wife, Kay Bailey Cash, at his side.
Dan loved people, and nothing made him happier than to greet a friend. He spent most of his life working with the public and was admired and loved throughout the community. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
Dan is survived by his wife, Kay Bailey Cash; his daughter, Dana Cash Sherron; son-in-law, Rex Sherron; grandchildren, Caroline Keith, Kayla Keith, Rexanna Sherron, Courtney Sherron, and Alex Sherron, all of Wake Forest; sisters, Faye Cash Hight, Diane Cash Merritt and brother-in-law, Joel Merritt, and Vicki Leonard; brothers, Jeff Cash and sister-in-law Joyce Cash, Jim Boykin, John Boykin, and Joe Boykin and sister-in-law, Anne Boykin; brother-in-law Everette Bailey and sister-in-law Gwen Bailey; sister-in-law, Judy Brewer; and mother-in-law, Louise Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fad Cash; mother, Ruth Roberts Cash Boykin; son, Danny Cash; and brothers, Charles E. “Tootsie” Cash and Fad R. “Ray” Cash.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 27, in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Hundley officiating. Burial was in Pine Forest Memorial Gardens with military honors.
