Donald L. Pace, 75, of Raleigh, passed away June 10, 2014, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Don grew up in Irvington, N.J., where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Meta Rose. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and then moved to Westfield and then Morristown, N.J., where he worked as a route salesman for Hostess and Drake bakeries. Don retired in 1998 to Pawley’s Island, S.C. and moved to Raleigh seven years ago.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Meta; daughter, Donna Banky (Blake); and sons, Anthony (Allison) and Stephen (Karen); and grandchildren Brandon, Jenna Rose, Danielle, Nolan, Nicholas, Michael, Anna Marie, Elizabeth and Lauren. He is also survived by his sister, Delores Klenke and her husband, Don, and brothers-in-law, Michael Rose (Gertrud), Russell Rose (Maria) and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Mary Pace.
A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. June 22 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in East Hanover, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s name to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, N.C. 27607, or to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
