Donald McKinley Yarborough, 79, of Wake Forest, died April 29, 2014, at his residence. He was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Wake County, to Hazel Yarborough and the late Rudolph Morgan.
He graduated from W.E.B. Dubois High in Wake Forest. He continued his education at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh. At the age of 16, Donald joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge from the Air Force, Donald worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
The funeral service was held May 2, 2014, at Friendship Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest, with Pastor Dr. Enoch Holloway officiating. Burial followed in the Wake Forest Cemetery.
Yarborough is survived by his mother, Hazel Y. Watkins, of Wake Forest; daughters, Donna M. Barnes and Debbie Yarborough, of Portsmouth, Va., Elaine and Collette Covington, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; son, Anthony D. Yarborough, of Portsmouth; sisters, Linda W. Winston (Harold), of Charlotte, Diane W. Laws and Minister Theresa A. Watkins, of Wake Forest; brothers, Carlester (Frances), Luther Jr. (Emma), of Wake Forest, William Earl Watkins, of Raleigh; and Frederick Jefferies (Glendine), of Wake Forest; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of God-sisters, God-brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends.
