Donald Winston Wright, 84, of Franklinton, died Saturday, May 25, 2014. He was born July 31, 1919, to John Thomas Wright Sr. and Vallie Evans Wright, and was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. Wright owned and operated his own farm in Franklinton for many years. He was a member of Franklin Lodge No. 123, the York Rite, Franklin County Shrine Club and Sudan Temple in Henderson. He was a charter member of Mitchiner’s Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department and the Lions Club.
Surviving are his companion of 39 years, and fianceé, Elaine Smith, of Franklinton; a brother, Joseph Earl Wright, of Franklinton; Elaine’s daughter, Nancy Satterwhite, of Franklinton; best and longtime friend, Durwood Davis; along with his grandchildren, by love, not by blood, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held today (Thursday) at 4 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton. The Rev. Clyde Waiden will preside. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to charity. Online condolences may be made at hallwynne.com.
