Dorothy (Dot) Hall Hinton, 71, of Wake Forest, went to be with her Lord May 26, 2014, when she lost her battle to breast cancer after a fight of more than 14 years.
Dot was born in Abington, Penn., to Bernice and Raymond Parker April 1, 1943. She was predeceased by her parents and one sister, Carol. She is survived by her husband, Al, of the home, and two sons, Gerald (Jay) and wife, Jenna, of Lake Royale, and Allen and wife, Shera, of Cocoa, Fla.; three older sisters, Charlotte, of Forest Lake, Minn., Gail, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Maxine, of Wellington, Fla.; two younger brothers, Winslow and wife, Sandy, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Raymond and wife, Leslie, of Napa Valley, Calif.
Dot’s greatest pleasure in life was her family, her home and yard and her church. She initiated and performed the Children’s Story Hour at the Wake Forest Public Library for 10 years and remembered each of the children when, after retirement, as they would approach her and say, “You are Miss Dot from the library.” She was always a kind and gentle person to all animals and humans. She could not pass by either without making sure they were fed and safe.
A service of remembrance will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 830 Durham Road, Wake Forest, followed by interment in the columbarium. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the church, P. O. Box 608, Wake Forest, NC 27588.
