Elizabeth “Liz” McLamb Rich, 71, died April 14, 2014, in The Dalles, Ore. She was born March 11, 1943, in Raleigh, to the late John Oscar Rich and Loreen McLamb Rich Osborne.
After graduating from Wake Forest High School, she attended Wake Forest College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in French and social work in 1965. She was a social worker in Forsyth County for many years. She loved horses, her cats, reading, spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews and her long walks on Jenkins Road in her later years. She joined her sister Helen in Oregon in 2010 but always thought of herself as native to Wake Forest.
She is survived by three siblings, Helen Rich Bowen, of The Dalles, Ore., and John Morris Rich and Elaine Rich Brown, both of Wake Forest; nephews, Wiley Brown III, P. Scott Brown, Jon Michener Banks and William Neal Bowen; nieces, Mary Catherine Rich and Ann Rich; and one grand-nephew, Mose Banks.
A memorial service celebrating Liz’s life will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 834 Durham Road, Wake Forest, at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014. After the service, the family will meet with family and friends at the church. Online condolences may be made at brightfunerals.com.
