As organizer of the abortion photo display near Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS), I am responding to the Oct. 6, article in The Wake Forest Weekly.
Our presentation was not a protest as your article suggested. We don’t protest abortion, we expose abortion. When we do, abortion protests itself. Photos of abortion are disturbing because abortion decapitates and dismembers defenseless human beings.
We did not protest SEBTS. We have great esteem for SEBTS. Our witness to Christian events like the SEBTS discipleship conference is because Christian church leaders who identify as pro-life rarely do anything to expose abortion, even to their own members. Christians who attend pro-life churches may know abortion is evil, but they have no idea how evil abortion really is. As a result, Christians are aborting at staggering rates.
Moreover, Christians are doing very little — the overwhelming majority are doing nothing — to confront and stop the killing. Therefore, we go wherever Christians gather, to show them what is happening at abortion facilities in their own communities.
With regard to children, all of society’s institutions (government, schools, media, etc.) help the abortion industry cover up the truth. The public square is the only venue we have left. Four large orange “Parental Warning” signs were carefully placed. We do not target our images to preschool or elementary children, but children do sometimes see the horrifying images. Children face this same risk at home, where sickening images are likely to appear on television, even during early prime time — Schindler’s List was shown on network television during family viewing hours. Horrifying victim photos are also featured on the covers of magazines openly displayed at the checkout stands of supermarkets. We will not submit to a double standard in which children may see horrifying photos of some victims but not others.
Your article identified William Schultz as a pastor. This is incorrect information; I am not a pastor.
Finally, if Mayor Jones wishes to repeal the First Amendment, we respectfully suggest that she follow the procedure outlined in Article V of the U.S. Constitution. Leftists hate the Constitution because it limits government power.
