HENDERSON — Through the “Plus 50” initiative, Vance-Granville Community College is hosting a free technology skills workshop/luncheon for local community members, age 50 and over, including current students and those who are considering going back to school.
Update Your Technology Skills is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the library in building 2 on VGCC’s main campus, 200 Community College Road.
VGCC faculty and staff members will conduct three sessions that will help adults use some popular forms of technology, both for personal and educational purposes. The first mini-workshop will cover basic computer skills as well as Skype, the online video chat and voice calling software. The second will focus on using the iPad tablet device as a fun learning tool. In the third, VGCC librarians will provide a refresher on using computers and the latest academic library resources for research.
Lunch will be provided and will include opportunities for networking and learning more about VGCC’s programs.
There is no charge for attending the luncheon/workshop, but preregistration is required. Participants may register online at www.vgcc.edu/plus-50-library-event. The deadline to register is Wednesday.
