ROLESVILLE — The date for the fourth annual Hot Pick’n, Finger Lick’n BBQ & Bands, Rolesville’s largest barbecue cookoff, is set for Sept. 14.
The competition is officially sanctioned by the N.C. Pork Council and will feature whole pig, chicken quarters and baby back ribs.
Entry is just $100 per category, and the first 30 teams to sign up will compete for cash prizes.
The best part for the public is that plates of the delicious ‘cue will be available from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Entertainment, which will be headlined by East Cost Rhythm and Blues, includes The Roy Perry Band, Wil Guyton, Kasey Tyndall, The Dudley Baggett Band and Doghouse Retreat. Also planned are children’s games and a “Piggy Parade.”
New this year will be a Womanless Beauty Pageant Friday night along with hot dogs, hamburgers and live music. All proceeds from the pageant will go to Cure AHC (alternating hemiplegia of childhood) in support of 5-year-old Rolesville resident Matthew Wuchich.
AHC is a rare neurological disorder striking children usually before the age of 18 months, causing random episodes of paralysis.
Cookoff registration forms are available at rolesvillechamber.org or by calling 919-562-7069.
