WAKE FOREST — If a handful of folks at Wake Forest High have any say, there will be a new spring sport at the school this year.
Dave Cima, the dad of a rising ninth-grader, along with teacher Laura Pierrie and Athletic Director Mike Joyner are holding an interest meeting Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 2:30 p.m. in room 1309 to see if there are enough students interested in forming a girls varsity lacrosse program.
Pierrie, who teaches science, is a senior class advisor and the club advisor for the Wake Forest Sisters Club. She will be the coach for the prospective team.
Originally from Wake Forest, Pierre attended Wakefield High School where she played varsity lacrosse for three years before attending and graduating from NCSU as Teaching Fellow.
Any students interested should attend Tuesday’s meeting or e-mail Pierrie at LPierrie@wcpss.net.
