WAKE FOREST — The Bald Entrepreneurs are hosting a Brave the Shave event at White Street Brewing March 18.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving event,, on March 18. The foundation is a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to raising money for children’s cancer research.
Participants will shave their heads to raise money for the lifesaving research.
Every two minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer; one in five won’t survive. Those who do often suffer long-term effects from treatments too harsh for their developing bodies.
Kids are special, and at St. Baldrick’s they’re treated that way. From its beginnings, St. Baldrick’s has believed that kids deserve the chance to be kids — fun-loving, carefree, refreshingly honest, and always a little goofy — and deserve the chance at a future.
That’s why donations raised at events like this have made it possible for St. Baldrick’s to fund more than $200 million to support the development of childhood cancer treatments that are as unique as every child.
The White Street Brewing St. Baldrick’s event is organized by The Bald Entrepreneurs and is titled Brave the Shave, and includes beer, food trucks, music and more. It runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Locally, people have raised close to $16,000 of this year’s $75,000 goal for Brave the Shave. Top team fundraisers so far include the Baldscripts ($7,022), The Bald Entrepreneurs ($5,310) and Crushin’ Cancer ($1,660).
In 10 years supporting and hosting local area St. Baldrick’s events, the Bald Entrepreneurs have raised close to $800,000 while shaving more than 1,600 heads.
