Grace Joynes Baker, 84, of Raleigh, died Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Duke Raleigh Hospital. She was born in Scotland, the daughter of the late George and Grace Mellis.
Grace was an avid dancer and was a member of several senior dance clubs. She enjoyed singing in the church as well as entertaining the local senior citizen groups. Before moving to North Carolina, Grace was an active member of The Union Vale Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was a tax collector for the City of Union Vale, N.Y.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband of 60 years, Frederick W. Baker; children, Richard Baker and wife, Ryann, of Youngsville; Lynn Winkelbauer and husband, Joe, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and Diane Baker-Carlon of Red Hook, N.Y.; sister, Margaret Martin, of Scotland; brother, Jim Mellis, of Scotland; grandchildren, Nicole Baker, Kelly Baker, Tori Winkelbauer, Josh Winkelbauer, Kyle Baker, Alex Carlon and Mark Carlon; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Baker.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Youngsville Baptist Church. Friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall one hour prior to the service.
