WAKE FOREST — Tom LeBarge and Matt Reck, right, both residents in Deacon’s Ridge neighborhood, look over a greenway plan Tuesday at town hall.
The plan to put a connector path that would tie the sidewalks in their neighborhood and another in Cardinal Hills to the pedestrian underpass under Dr. Calvin Jones Highway. That culvert connects to the Dunn Creek Greenway in Heritage.
A dozen or so residents and greenways enthusiasts attended the session, in which town planners asked for ideas about which way the trail should go.
Staffers have some ideas of their own, however. An early sketch shows the path running adjacent to a creek bed on private property from the tunnel to Ledgerock Road in Deacon’s Ridge, and then looping eastwards to Cardinal Crest Street.
One sketch concerns Lou Davis, whose family live on the north side of Ledgerock at its terminus, at the closest point to the creek.
“I don’t want a trail that’s 35 feet from my back door,” he told consulting engineers.
A follow up meeting will be held in August, planners said.
