RALEIGH — The Lowes Foods store at Forestville Crossing, 8440 Louisburg Road, just south of Rolesville, was robbed early Saturday morning, with employees held for several hours during the commission of the crime.
According to an information release from the Raleigh Police Department, two armed and masked men gained access to the store at about 1:30 a.m. Although the store was closed, there were two employees working inside.
The suspects told the on-duty employees they were there to rob the store, but neither of the employees had access to cash in the safe. The robbers reportedly detained the employees at the store until the morning shift employees came to work.
Three additional employees arrived at about 6 a.m. at which time the suspects completed the robbery before fleeing. None of the employees were physically harmed.
Both suspects are described as black males. One has a dark complexion, stands 5 feet 6-7 inches tall and weighs 160-170 pounds with a thin but muscular frame. He wore a ball cap.
Detailed information about the second suspect was not available at press time, but he was also described as having a thin, muscular frame.
