James “Jimmy” Harris, 66, of Wake Forest, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013. He was born in Moore County, the son of Verlon Faircloth Harris and the late Robert Harris.
Jimmy was an exceptionally kind man. He went out of his way to let those he came in contact with know that they mattered. He was always ready to give a peppermint, a hug, and a “happy” greeting. He was honest, stubborn, gentle, proud, caring and never did anything halfway. His granddaughters were the greatest joy of his life and to them he was simply “Happy.” He was deeply loved by those around him. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at 9935 Bonsal Crossing Road in New Hill, N.C.
Jimmy is survived by his sons, Jay Harris, of Raleigh, Jody Harris and wife, Alicia, of Wake Forest, and Justin Harris and wife, Connie Carringer, of New Hill; his mother, Verlon Harris, of Carthage; grandchildren, Lily Grace Harris and Kendall Ryan Harris; sisters, Judy Moody, of Carthage, Debbie Medlin, of Isla Mujeres, Mexico, and Kim Hester of Columbus, Ga.; and brothers, Greg and Tim Harris, both of Carthage.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Healing Place of Wake County at 1251 Goode St. Raleigh, N.C. 27603, 919-838-9800, www.hpowc.org.
