Janet Helena Briggs Roth, 74, of Raleigh, died peacefully July 27, 2014, at Falls River Court & Village, attended by her family.
She was born Jan. 2, 1939 in Monroe, Maine, and graduated from Bridgton Academy in 1957. She graduated from Bryant College (Rhode Island) in 1959 and was a member of Sigma Lambda Theta. After college, she moved to Washington D.C. to work for the Central Intelligence Agency. There she met and married Robert Roth and they raised their family in northern Virginia’s Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. They continued to live in Virginia until her retirement in 1998, and finally settled in Raleigh in 2005, to be near family.
She was predeceased by her parents, George Willis Briggs and Selda Arabelle Barden Briggs, as well as her son, Robert Martin Roth.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Roth; sister, Doris Briggs Wunderlich and husband Donald, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; son, Joseph Roth and wife Jeanne, of Albuquerque, N.M.; son, Jonathan Roth and wife Jacqueline, of Wake Forest; daughter-in-law, Tresa Roth, of Gurley, Ala.; and 11 grandchildren, Alexa, Holly, Kelsey, Haley, Amy, Camryn, Taylor, Jack, Heather, Kyle and Alison.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday), July 31, at Saint Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27609. Friends may visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the church.
