Jerry Lee Watkins, 62, of Raleigh, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, following a six-month battle with an extremely rare form of uterine cancer.
She was born May 24, 1951, in Henderson, and was preceded in death by her parents, Mozel Fuller Watkins and William Lee Watkins.
She is survived by her sisters, Theresa W. Daniel and husband, James, and Shirley W. Watkins and husband, Scott.
Jerry graduated from Middleburg High School and attended Appalachian State University. She worked for the Wake County Public School System, and was assistant manager for Marshall Oil Company for 18 years. Later in life she was a live-in caregiver for patients with dementia.
Jerry possessed a creative and artistic flair which radiated throughout her life and style. She was talented in music, concentrating on song writing, and had a talent in art. She had an interest in cultural outings, entertaining and fine dining. She always saw the best in people, had a servant’s heart and loved her family.
A memorial service honoring her life took place Feb. 23 at Bible Baptist Church in Henderson, officiated by the Rev. Wilbert Horton.
