WAKE FOREST — Craig Johnson and Shawn Long first met in Raleigh on June 4, 1994, having both been students at N.C. State University. They have been together for 21 years.
Last year on October 13, 2014, after marriage equality became the law of the land in North Carolina, they were finally able to enter into a civil marriage, giving their son, Isaiah, the protection of two legal parents and formalizing their enduring love of more than two decades. They look forward to celebrating their first official, state-recognized anniversary.
Craig’s family is from Garner, while Shawn’s is from outside of Roxboro.
Craig, Shawn and Isaiah live in Wake Forest.
