Leonard James Groves, 82, of Fayetteville, died Monday, May 12, 2014.
Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria M. Groves. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was awarded the Purple Heart in the Korean War and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the service, he worked for Purolator.
A graveside service was held Thursday, May 15, at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
Leonard is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie G. and Barry Gupton, of Louisburg; son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Marie Groves, of Charlotte; grandchildren, Cristian and Cierra Groves; Ana Gupton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Melvin Lord, of New York; Ina and David Garris and Doris and Robert Hopkins, all of Pennsylvania; and Joyce and Francis Craker of West Virginia.
