YOUNGSVILLE — Area gymnasts with Youngsville’s Tri-County Gymnastics, competed at the 2015 NC Silver, Gold, Platinum & Diamond state championship April 10-12.
Fiftysix of the best gymnastics teams throughout North Carolina gathered in Winston-Salem to compete for state titles and to qualify to represent North Carolina at regionals.
Eight goldlevel gymnasts from Tri-County showed their skills as they competed against 292 other talented gymnasts. They placed 15th out of 46 for team all-around.
Tri-County gymnasts also walked away with five individual medals with two first place state titles, two silver medals, and one bronze medal. Additionally, both Camey Morgan and Emma Shattuck qualified for regionals.
Medaling in gold level were Haley Shattuck and Morgan, who placed first on vault within their divisions, with a 9.3 and a 9.25, respectively.
Also medaling were Chloee Tator who placed second on vault with a 9, Emma Shattuck, who placed second on beam with a 9.1, and Desaray Shirely who placed third on beam with a 9.2.
There were 458 gymnasts competing at the silver level. Of those, 15 were from Tri-County Gymnastics.
Though the competition was fierce, the girls’ performances placed them ninth in the state out of 50 teams. To add to the excitement, 14 of the girls qualified for regionals and all 15 gymnasts placed in the top 10 for their division.
Tri-County’s silver level gymnasts also earned 24 individual medals with seven first place state titles, six silver medals, and 11 bronze medals.
For individual medals, Shelby Brooks place first in vault with a 9.4, third on bars with a 9.475, second on beam with a 9.225, second on floor with a 9.35, and first all-around with a 37.45.
Delaney Nunn tied for second on vault with a 9.05, first on beam and floor with a 9.45 on both events, and an all-around score of 37.15.
Kileigh Stone placed first on beam with a 9.475, third on floor with a 9.25, and second all-around with a 36.85.
Ava Marchetta placed third all-around. Piper Snider tied for third on vault with a 9.05 and placed third on bars.
Devin Brooks tied for second on vault with a 9.3. Hannah Dunn placed third on floor.
Kaityln Hunter tied for third on vault, placed first on bars with a 9.575, tied for third on floor with a 9.275 and placed third all-around.
Chloe Ames placed third on vault and Christone Hennessy placed third on beam with a 9.25 and tied for second all-around with a 36.25.
