A straight-A student who scored a perfect 800 on his math SAT, Briones is a sophomore at Enloe High School and is the recipient of numerous math awards and two Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) top percentile awards. He is a member of the Enloe cross-country team and is a founding member of a school computer programming group.
Outside of school, he is a leader in Boy Scout Troop No. 500, plays guitar in a band and will serve this summer as a counselor-in-leadership trainee at Camp Kanata.
Briones will also study music for the fourth year at Duke’s TIP Summer Studies program.
NCSSM, opened in 1980, is a residential high school in Durham for juniors and seniors who have a strong aptitude and interest in science, mathematics and technology.
