GREENSBORO — A tractor trailer transporting mail for the Postal Service struck a barrier along Interstate 64 in Louisville, Kentucky Tuesday morning causing the truck to flip and become engulfed in flames.
The contract driver was not injured, but the majority of the First Class and Priority Mail items were destroyed. Officials say the truck contained mail tendered in Louisville but destined for areas served by processing plants in Greensboro and Raleigh.
Customers expecting postal mail or packages from the Louisville area, who think their mail may have been affected, should call the Postal Service Call Center at 1-800-275-8777 for further assistance.
If a package was insured, a claim can be filed online at usps.com/insuranceclaims/online/welcome.htm. Customers may also pick up a PS Form 1000 at the local Post Office.
