Melaney Jayne Holden, 8, of Wake Forest, earned her angel wings early Saturday morning, Dec. 28, 2013, at home after battling stage 4 neuroblastoma for 18 months. Melaney was a second-grader at North Forest Pines Elementary School who loved her family, friends and life.
Melaney Jayne is survived by her parents, Lisa Basiliere Holden and C. Byron Holden, Jr.; and two younger sisters, Lindsey and Audrey, all of Wake Forest; grandparents, Bob and Linda Basiliere, of North Attleboro, Mass., Christine Holden, C. Byron Holden, Sr. and Kristin Smith, all of Charlotte; great-grandmother, Claire Basiliere, of East Providence, R.I.; aunts and uncles, Laura Basiliere McDuff, of North Attleboro, Heather Holden and John Carew of Charlotte, and Kate Holden Aleem and Asif Aleem of Darien, Ill.; cousins, Ava McDuff, Patrick Carew and baby boy Aleem arriving any day; as well as many extended family members.
A private burial took place prior to the celebration of Melaney’s life, which was held Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Church.
