Mildred “Millie” Bowden Carter, 69, of Youngsville, died peacefully Friday, May 23, 2014, at the William Dunlap Center for Caring. She was born in Edgecombe County, the daughter of the late Olive Truckner Bowden and Marvin Wesley Bowden, and was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Carter.
Millie was a beautiful spirit with a constant smile who loved the farm, frogs, turtles, squirrels and nature. She loved dancing to all kinds of music and was easy to love and be loved by anyone that was honored to be in her presence. Her loyal, fuzzy nurses and kids were Socks, Mittens, Little Nana, and Spot.
A graveside funeral service was held Monday, May 26, at 11 a.m., at Harris Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Pam Gilliam officiating.
Millie is survived by her daughter, Dawn Phillips and husband, Jake Phillips Jr., of Youngsville; a sister, Nancy Edwards, of Centerville; granddog, Sadie Mae; and grandcats, Jimmy, Prancy, Knot, Kilowatt and Chip.
