John Stanley Dubis Jr., 52
John Stanley Dubis Jr., 52, of Wake Forest, found peace in the loving hands of Our Lord on Sept. 12, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on Oct. 26, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wis. John was an avid fisherman, who loved being with friends and family, enjoying all of the simple things in life. His courage and unyielding faith in God was an inspiration to everyone around him. He will be missed by all who knew him in North Carolina and Wisconsin.
John is survived by his best friend and life companion of 12 years, Kathy Pierce; his parents John and Emily of San Antonio, Texas; brothers and sisters, David and his wife, Eleen, of Raleigh; Larry and his wife, Debbie, of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; Mary Pressler and her husband, Carl, of San Antonio, Texas; Deloris Kujawa and her husband, Peter, of Greendale, Wis.; and Steve and his wife, April, of Brookfield, Wis.; nephews and nieces, Christopher, Thomas, Anne, Jennifer, Michelle, Marie, Sarah and the late Robert.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Sept. 17 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest.

Wayne T. Harris, 68
Wayne T. Harris, 68, of Raleigh, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008.
Mr. Harris is survived by his daughters, Beverly Hoyle of Wake Forest and Stephanie Littleton of Dunn; a brother, Danny Harris of Clayton; a sister, Bonnie Dalton of Raleigh; and three grandchildren.
The funeral was held Sept. 15 at Friendship Baptist Church on Falls of the Neuse Road in Raleigh. Pastor Bob Vradenburgh officiated the service. Interment was at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Timothy Clark “Tim” McCarty, 41
Timothy Clark “Tim” McCarty, 41, of southern Granville County, died Wednesday, Sept., 10, 2008, at WakeMed. He was born in Hamilton County, Tenn. Tim was an avid outdoorsman who will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Mr. McCarty is survived by his parents, Buddy and Sis McCarty of Granville County; a brother, Michael McCarty of Granville County; aunts, Peggy Clem of Apex and Anne McCarty of Raleigh; uncles, Buck Bradberry and his wife, Mary, of Hendersonville; and John Srakocic of Etna, Penn.; three nephews; and many cousins.
Funeral services were held Sept. 14 in the chapel of Bright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jamie Dew officiating. Burial followed in Wake Forest Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Clem, Travis Clem, Russ Mann, Tommy Bradberry, Bobby Bradberry and William Love.

Marvin Lesco Ross, 84
Marvin Lesco Ross, 84, of Wake Forest, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at Britthaven Nursing Center in Louisburg. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Beatrice Stevens Ross and Bryant Ross. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served in WW II. He was a retired supervisor with the federal government in Washington, D.C. Mr. Ross loved bluegrass music and playing the banjo.
Mr. Ross is survived by his wife, Myrtle Pendergraft Ross; a daughter, Janice Bruce and her husband, Ray, of Wake Forest; a son, Doug Ross and his fiancee, Martha “Marti” King, both of Franklinton; a sister, Dorothy Dickens and her husband, Joe, of Fuquay-Varina; and three grandchildren, Ray Jr. of Raleigh; Heather and her husband, John, of Raleigh; and Caley Ross of Herndon, Va.
Friends are invited to visit with the family Sunday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m., at 825 Wait Ave., Wake Forest, where some of his favorite bluegrass music will be played.
