•Minor and major league fall select team tryouts are tomorrow (Friday), 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, 9-11 a.m. at Luddy Field.
The fall select teams are for children whose league age is 9-10 for minor league and 11-12 for major league and who want to play on an all-star quality local travel team.
In addition to the select team tryouts, registration is continuing for fall baseball/softball. Registration can be completed online at or in person at town hall, 357 N Nassau St.
Fees are $50 for in-town residents and $60 for all others. Caps, jerseys and socks are provided.
•Save the date — the Youngsville fundraiser coaches/parents versus coaches/parents adult softball game will be Sept. 15. Interested teams can register now at
•The Triangle Tarheels are having free open gym practice for rising third grade boys, Saturday 2-4 p.m., in the Youngsville Elementary Gym. The Triangle Tarheels is a high-level prep basketball program. If interested, see or call 919-522-7975.

•The Wake Forest Bulldog Youth Football and Cheerleading will have signups Saturday, 9-11 a.m. at the Wake Forest Middle School’s football field.
This is for ages 6-12. A copy of birth certificate is needed and also the registration fee of $75.
