Patricia Annette Yoakum, 74, of Raleigh passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013.
According to her request, Yoakum’s immediate family will be celebrating her life in a beachside memorial this Fall.
Born in Owego, N.Y., she attended Harding University and completed her education as a Registered Nurse in Raleigh.
She was a staff nurse at Duke Raleigh Hospital where she worked in the Emergency Department. She was honored during her career as one of North Carolina’s Top 100 Nurses.
Yoakum is survived by her two sons, Dr. John Spencer Yoakum, of Greensboro, along with his wife, Lisa Brumback Yoakum and Dr. James Daniel “Dan” Yoakum of Wake Forest, along with his wife, Kimberly Miller Yoakum; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either Hospice of Wake County or Rex Cancer Center. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of both institutions for their excellent care of Yoakum.
