To the editor:
First, I am a proud resident of the town of Wake Forest and enjoy living in the Deacon’s Ridge neighborhood. As with any progressive town or city, buildings and changes are always being planned and/or in the stage of completion. I do not always agree with all of the productive planning for our town of Wake Forest, and I appreciate the opportunity to voice my opinion when I feel it is necessary.
The project in question for Wake Forest is the Franklin Street Apartments to be presented at the planning board in February. This project will include 108 apartment units on the corner of South Franklin Street and N.C. 98. The complex will have only one entrance/exit.
Now, imagine you are in traffic on Franklin Street during the morning work hour rush, school traffic, and/or returning home from work. We already have a major traffic jam during these periods of time — so let’s now add citizens from an additional 108 apartments trying to do the same in the heavy flow of traffic. Also, I have been told there is no traffic light planned for the intersection. Is this what you and I want for the future of our area and town?
Please consider this proposal for the Franklin Street Apartments and plan to attend the planning commission meeting in February to voice your concern. As residents of the immediate area, it is our responsibility to act professionally and voice our concerns to the appropriate representatives of the town of Wake Forest.
