Arthur Richardson Sr.
Arthur Richardson Sr. of Louisburg passed away Saturday, Sept. 29.
Richardson is survived by three sons, Arthur Richardson Jr., Douglas Ray Richardson and Federick “Jack” Richardson; his mother, Emma Richardson; three sisters, Mary Alsten, Vernice Richardson and Bernice Harris; a brother, Emmanuel Richardson; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 4 at Perry’s Missionary Baptist Church. Burial was at the Ellis family cemetery.

James “Steve” Scott, 50
James “Steve” Scott, 50, of Louisburg passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012.
Scott is survived by a son, Christian Jordan Walker; his mother, Hanice Marie Scott-Rogers; a sister, Tamica Rogers; and four brothers, Charles Rogers, Gregory Rogers, Patrick Rogers and Gerald Rogers.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 7 at Old Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles A. Murrill officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.

William “W.A.” Davis, 81
Williams “W.A.” Davis, 81, of Louisburg passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.
Davis is survived by a son, James Davis; a sister, Helen Vancey; three brothers, Carl Davis, Jesse Thomas and Dallas Thomas; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 9 at South Main Street Baptist Church with the Rev. David Rosby officiating. Burial was at M.H. Jones Cemetery.

Cassie Lee Vines, 76
Cassie Lee Vines, 76, of Franklinton passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012.
Vines is survived by three daughters, Thelma Brown, the Rev. Dazelle Kearney and Elizabeth Vines-Chasten; an adopted daughter, Sylvia Richardson; two sons, Deacon Joe Louis Vines and Grover Vines Jr.; a brother, James Neal; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday), Oct. 11 at Old Liberty Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Vines family cemetery.

Carolyn Gupton, 63
Carolyn Gupton, 63, of Louisburg passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012.
Gupton is survived by a son, Anthony Gupton; three sisters, Ruby Williams, Vernell Wright and Janet Green; and three brothers, Willie Gupton, Bobby Gupton and Earnest Gupton.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 6 at Richardson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Richardson officiating. Burial was at the Gupton family cemetery.

Roy Warren Mitchell, 79
Roy Warren Mitchell, 79, of Wake Forest passed away peacefully at Rex Healthcare Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012. Mitchell was born May 17, 1933 in Wake County, the son of the late Eugene Taswell Mitchell and Hattie Perry Mitchell. He retired as a maintenance supervisor with Wake County schools.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 10 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel. Burial with military honors was at Hopkins Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mitchell is survived by a special friend, Susan E. Goodwin of Wake Forest; a daughter, Janelle Mitchell Medlin and her husband, Jackie, of Pilot; two granddaughters; a great-granddaughter; a stepdaughter, Donna Hartlaub and her husband, Mitch, of Wilmington; two step-grandchildren; and a sister, Philithia M. Lindsey of Zebulon. In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by a son, Warren Edward Mitchell; brothers, Eugene Allen Mitchell and Dewanna Mitchell; and a sister, Eloise Watkins.

Jim Goodman, 89
Jim Goodman, 89, of Raleigh died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at the William Dunlap Center for Caring. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Lola Bennett Goodman and Claude Goodman and was the last survivor of their six children. In 1991, Goodman retired from the city of Raleigh as the production supervisor for the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium.
Goodman is survived by a son, Rick Goodman and his wife, Lynne; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Patrick Raymond Lee, 24
Patrick Raymond Lee, 24, of Raleigh died early morning Friday, Oct. 5, 2012. Lee was born Dec. 12, 1987.
Lee enjoyed music, sports, animals, movies, skateboarding and playing video games and was an avid soccer and hockey player. He graduated from Leesville Road High School in 2006 and was attending Wake Tech Community College.
Lee is survived by his parents, Tim and Cheryl Lee; siblings, Rhonda Lee and Brandon Stanley of Raleigh; grandparents, Richard and Trudy Rogers of Wake Forest and Charles and Mary Lou Lee of Dunn; and numerous extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday), Oct. 11 at Hope Lutheran Church, 3525 Rogers Road, Wake Forest.

Clayton R. Wilkes III, 35
Clayton Rudolph Wilkes III, 35, of Wake Forest, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 in Miami, Fla. He was born in Columbia, S.C., and spent his developmental years in the Apex, Raleigh area of North Carolina.
Wilkes attended Sacred Heart Cathedral School before moving onto Apex Middle and High School graduating in 1995. He then continued his education at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh. During his childhood years, he enjoyed many sports, especially swimming and soccer. In 1998, he joined the North Carolina Army National Guard and served in the 732nd maintenance company as a logistics specialist.
Wilkes is survived by his parents, Clay and Linda Wilkes of Wake Forest; a brother, Chris Wilkes and his wife, Julie, of Portland, Maine; a sister, Katie Meyers and her husband, Jordan, of Louisville, Ky.; three cousins; and extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Friday, Oct. 12 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Mary of the Angels Chapel, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, The family will recieve friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the chapel. Burial will follow at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.

Diana Savickas, 84
Diana Savickas, 84, of Wake Forest passed away Friday morning, Oct. 5, 2012 at the William M. Dunlap Center for Caring. Savickas was born in Lithuania, the daughter of the late Jozas Kramilius and Antose Grybinas. She was a member of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday morning, Oct. 9 at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Burial was at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens.
Savickas is survived by her daughters, Ritamarie Savickas-Lanson and her husband, Jim, of Wake Forest, Lynda Valdes and her husband, Joaquin, of Palmdale, Calif., and Joan Bauman and her husband, Jimmy, of Dayton, Nev.; seven grandchildren; a cousin; and family in Lithuania. She was predeceased by her husband, John Savickas.

Kenneth Wade “Ken” Brown Jr., 60
Kenneth Wade “Ken” Brown Jr., 60, of Zebulon, passed away Oct. 3, 2012 at Rex Hospital. Brown was a veteran of the United States Army and owner and operator of KandA Services Inc. He was Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 500 and also served as district commissioner.
A visitation was held Saturday evening, Oct. 6 at Bright Funeral Home and Cremation Center. No additional services are planned.
Brown is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth Clark Brown; sons, Ashley Brown and his wife, Stacy, of New Bern and Aaron Brown and his wife, Elise, of Green Acres, Wash.; his mother, Mickie Hollifield Brown of Hickory; sisters, Sharon Brown of Newton and Denise Brown of Hickory; three grandchildren; and two nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Wade Brown Sr.

Dr. Wanda Jones Cecil, 56
Dr. Wanda Jones Cecil, 56, of Zebulon passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at Rex Hospital. Cecil was a graduate of Duke University.
A graveside funeral service was held Saturday afternoon, Oct. 6 at Wake Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery with Chaplain Tim Tudor officiating.
She is survived by her husband, Walt Cecil; daughters, Kelly Cecil Straughn and her husband, Brian, and Krista Renee Cecil all of Zebulon; her parents, Libby and Clarence P. Jones of Knightdale; brothers, Clarence Jones Jr. and Wesley “Donnie” Jones both of Knightdale and Douglas Jones of Raleigh; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

John S. Meadows Jr., 74
John Samuel Meadows Jr., 74, of Wake Forest passed away Monday evening, Oct. 8, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Altavista, Va., the son of the late Mary and John S. Meadors Sr. and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Meadows was an avid bowler, enjoyed golfing and was a Chicago Bears fan.
Meadows is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sallie K. Meadows; a daughter, Cheryl Trimble of Wake Forest; sons, Bobby Meadows and his wife, Tinker, of Gainesville, Ga., Patrick Meadows and his wife, Jackie, of Wake Forest and John Meadows and his wife, Catina, of Leesburg, Va.; a sister, Virginia McLernon of Henderson; a brother, Steve Meadors and his wife, Ryoko, of Hinesville, Ga.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the chapel of Bright Funeral Home.

Karen Lee Vaughn Alden, 69
Karen Lee Vaughn Alden, 69, of Franklinton passed away Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at WakeMed. She was born Nov. 22, 1942 in Waterford, N.Y., the daughter of the late Edward and Pauline Vaughn. She enjoyed arts and crafts and crocheting.
Alden is survived by her children, Kimberly Alden of Franklinton and Tammy Yuhasz, Robert Alden and Jason Alden all of Schenectady, N.Y.; a sister, Patricia Palumbo of Safe Harbor, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at the chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 504 E. Mason St., Franklinton. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.
