Jessica Amber Montalbano, 17
Jessica Amber Montalbano, 17, of Wake Forest passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at Duke Medical Center in Durham. She was born in Suffolk County, N.Y., the daughter of Anthony and Roxanna Montalbano.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday morning, Jan. 21 at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Montalbano is survived by a brother, Anthony Joseph Montalbano; and grandparents, Rosa Cardona, Jose Vargas, Anthony Montalbano and Annette Montalbano.

Michael W. “Mike” Holmes, 55
Michael “Mike” Holmes, 55, of Wake Forest died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Wake County, the son of the late Annie Louise Hight Holmes and Charles Curtis Holmes.
A celebration of life was held Thursday evening, Jan. 17 at Wake Forest Church of God with Pastors Jesse Pimentel, Aaron Leonard and Philip Lyon officiating.
Holmes is survived by his wife, Dianne Pearce Holmes; a son, Michael Goodin and his wife, Meredith, of Raleigh; a daughter, Shana Thompson and her husband, Kevin, of Raleigh; a stepson, Russell Clark of Wake Forest; a stepdaughter, Kristina Clark; a sister, Michelle H. Gay and her husband, Ronald, of Rolesville; brothers, Marc, Shawn and his wife, Nicole, and Jason Holmes; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

John William Burch Sr., 89
John William Burch Sr., 89, of Youngsville died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Wake Medical Center. He was born in Hiawassee, Ga., the son of the late Annie Johnson Burch and Charles Burch.
A graveside memorial service was held Thursday afternoon, Jan. 17 at the Osborne Cemetery in Hiawassee, Ga.
Burch is survived by a son, John W. Burch Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Antioch, Tenn.; a daughter, Mary Eshleman and her husband, John, of Youngsville; four grandchildren; a sister, Mary Lou Bruch of Taylors, S.C.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Teague Burch; a daughter, Marilyn Burch; and a son, Michael Burch.

Brenda Merritt Morton, 65
Brenda Merritt Morton, 65, of Franklinton passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013 at Duke Raleigh Hospital. She was born March 9, 1047 in Vance County, the daughter of the late Roney Wilson and Lena Glenn Merritt.
Morton attended Franklinton High School. She retired from the Franklin County Department of Social Services as the receptionist.
Morton is survived by her husband of 48 years, Mike Morton of Franklinton; sons, Scott Morton of Franklinton and Dusty Morton and his wife, Tammy, of Louisburg; three grandchildren; a brother, Earl Thomsa Merritt of Maryland; a brother-in-law, Steve Morton; four nieces; and special friends. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Todd Morton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Franklinton. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Josephine P. Holeman, 95
Josephine P. Holeman, 95, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 at Hillside Nursing Center. She was born July 28, 1917.
Holeman was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and a Volunteers fan. She enjoyed playing piano.
Holeman is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Cary and her husband, Bill, of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Wylie Holeman of Garland, Texas, and Robert “Buddy” Holeman and his wife, Linda, of Wake Forest; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Col. Wylie G. Holeman; and a daughter, Graham H. Price.
A private burial will be held in Memphis, Tenn., at a later date.

Pattie Lee Dunsten Mitchell, 80
Pattie Lee Dunsten Mitchell, 80, of Louisburg passed away Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial was at the church cemetery.
Mitchell is survived by her daughters, Sinorris M. Branch and her husband, Hugh, of Louisburg, Laura R. Watson of Ocean Springs, Miss., Essie L. Jordan and her husband, Edwin, of Garner, Joyce M. Richardson and her husband, Leevern, of Louisburg, Emina J. Williams of Louisburg and Barbara Epps of Raleigh; a son, Jeff M. Mitchell Jr. of Henderson; sisters, Mamie Dunsten Johnson, Irene Dunsten Scarboro, Emily Dunsten Toomer, Elizabeth Dunsten Johnson and Ailean Dunsten Avery; brothers, Theodore Dunsten, John Dunsten and Earnest “Buck” Reed; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
