Hazel Woodlief Keith, 85
Hazel Woodlief Keith, 85, of Wake Forest passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Rex Hospital. She was born in Wake County and was a member of Glen Royal Baptist Church.
Keith was the retired manager of combined records with the North Carolina Department of Correction after 46 years of service, and worked as a stenographer with the war department during World War II.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, March 6 at Glen Royal Baptist Church. Burial was in Wake Forest Cemetery.
Keith is survived by her sons, Robert G. “Joe” Keith Sr. of Wake Forest and Richard LeBaron Keith and his wife, Beverly, of Youngsville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Macon Woodlief and his wife, Sylvia, of South Carolina; and lifelong friends, Barbara and Dick Cooke of Knightdale. She was predeceased by her aunt who raised her, Lillie Horton; and her husband of 46 years, Robert Richard Keith.

Virginia Nutt Leonard, 63
Virginia Nutt Leonard, 63, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. She was born Sept. 7, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph Randolph Nutt Jr. and Sarah Howell East.
Leonard was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church of Raleigh and had been employed as a registered representative with First Citizens Investor Services of Raleigh.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday), March 7 at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 4523 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, with Father Jay James officiating.
Leonard is survived by her husband, Ross J. Leonard of Wake Forest; a daughter, Virginia B. Shaffer of Wake Forest; two sisters, Janet Lembke of Staunton, Va., and Sarah Jane Hovsepian of West Boylston, Mass.; two brothers, Joseph Randolph Nutt III and Robert H. Nutt, both of Staunton, Va.; and a granddaughter.

Ellene Dent Dowdy, 81
Ellene Dent Dowdy, 81, of Monroe, formerly of Franklin County, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013. She was born Oct. 31, 1931, the daughter of the late Dewey and Hettie Davis Narron. Dowdy owned and operated Dent Stables of Youngsville for many years.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Lancaster Funeral and Cremation Services chapel with Pastor Barbara Watkins officiating.
Dowdy is survived by her daughters, Sue Williford and her husband, Keith, of Monroe and Ann Smith and her husband, Wayne, of Louisburg; a sister, Adele Curtis of Zebulon; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Bobby Wayne Dent.
