ROLESVILLE — Officers with the Rolesville Police Department are on the lookout for kids on bicycles, skateboards or really anything else on wheels. They want to give some kids tickets — for doing the right thing.
Kids in and around Rolesville could receive citations or certificates for obeying traffic laws and wearing their helmets.
Those citations come with an attached card that can be turned into the Rolesville McDonald’s for a free ice cream cone.
Rolesville Police Chief Bobby Langston said he and his officers look for ways to interact with kids while promoting safe riding and safe
"The town of Rolesville strives to make our community a safe place to live, work and play," Langston said. "This outreach program will help educate` our kids and parents on the importance of safety
while building positive relationships."
Langston said McDonald’s was playing a key role by partnering with the police department for the initiative.
"The Rolesville Police Department is thankful for partners like McDonald’s so that we are able to provide such programs," he said.
The program will run through Sept. 1.
