To the editor:
As our president continues to scramble for any reason to get face time on TV and sell his failed policies to the American people, the main stream media does little to correct ridiculous statements he makes.
At the Sept. 18 Business Round Table he said, “Now the debt ceiling — I just want remind people, in case you haven’t been keeping up, raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt.”
Well this is an absurd observation.
If indeed our debt ceiling has been raised one hundred times then assuredly our debt increased every time.
And then he said, “The deficits have been coming down at the fastest rate since World War II. The deficit has been cut in half since I came into office.”
I am sure it was said with that sincere look he has but it is not true.
The truth is that from 2009-12 the deficit averaged $1,337 billion dollars a year, only dropping to a deficit $642 billion in 2013 after the “sequester” went into effect.
It is an insult to American citizenry intelligence to be subjected to these meaningless speeches. Is this an example of leading from behind? You pull facts out of your … hat? Or you are just reading words from a teleprompter? No, Mr. President, there have just been too many times. What you do speaks so loudly I can no longer hear what you say.
